Customer Rating: Summary: an album I never get tired of Comment: I love this album. I bought it on impulse after getting the music from the Movie Matrix.. then I looked up the artists from that album, and ordered a couple of albums from those artists. This was one. I had never heard of Rob Dougan before the movie Matrix.
This has since become one of my favorite albums. one that I haven't gotten tired of yet (and I've had it for a couple of years). I love the combination of the orchestra, and his voice (which is stylistic, not "beautiful".. but it fits well). There are 2 albums, one with him singing, and one with just the instrumentals. Both are good.
There is one theme running through the voice album.. basically the theme is "love scorned". The songs describe the ups and downs, the anger/longing/hurt in this situation. After I heard this the first time, I thought, "Whoa, Dude, whatever she did to you, it must have been bad.. but, you really need to get over this!" However, if Rob is drawing from his real life, perhaps the experience was meant to be so he could create this album.
There is only one song that I skip over.. and that is the drinking song. and there are a couple of pauses/blank spots that I would rather not be there. but.. that is about the only negative thing I can say about the 2 albums.
It is also a great album to listen to when walking/running. great beat, but with enough variances to keep it interesting.
I keep looking for a new album from Rob Dougan.. but none so far. Perhaps he made a better choice in the love department, this time around. ;)
bottom line, I definitely recommend this album.
Customer Rating: Summary: Instrumental Version Fantastic Comment: When I first heard Furious Angels (enhanced version) in 2004, I was blown away by the originality of Dougan's music. I immediately purchased the enhabnced cd. Though not a fan of the vocal version of the music, the instrumental cd alone merits five stars. The intrumental version of his music is absolutely flawless. Dougan's music so much depth that it is difficult to believe that Furious Angels is Dougan's debut album. How he came up with some of the sounds to his music is beyond me. I have not tired of listening to Furious Angels. When is his next album coming out?!
Customer Rating: Summary: I have yet to meet anyone who dislikes Rob Dougan Comment: Me, like most people, found out about Rob Dougan because of the Matrix movie that included his song, Clubbed to Death. It's too bad that the only reason people know about him is because of the film. Dougan's Furious Angels is simply a unique and amazing album that includes amazing orchestral peices and combines it with modern drum beats and Dougan's raspy voice. I think his voice is cool and adds another unique touch to the album, however, if you don't want to hear his voice, you can always purchase the instrumental version of the album.
This guy deserves more recognition for the amazing album he slaved over for years. You cannot go wrong with Furious Angels.
Customer Rating: Summary: So good. Comment: I absolutely love "Furious Angels." It's like taking classical music and putting a modern twist on it. Every song is full of powerful emotion and is really unexplainable. You have to hear it yourself. The instrumental songs are amazing on their own as well. I listen to both CDs because without the vocals its like a whole new song. I love every song on it except "drinking song." He sings it in a drunken voice and I'm just not into drinking in general. Other than that it's absolutely perfect. I feel Rob doesn't get the recognition he deserves for his work. If you have never heard Rob Dougan's work you have to pick this up, you will not regret it.
Customer Rating: Summary: Rob Dougan - Furious Angels Comment: This is by far my favorite CD out of everything I own. The most innovative, moving and gorgeous CD I have ever heard, easily. A fusion of classical elements with trip-hop beats and bluesy vocals. Rob Dougan is known best for his work on the Matrix soundtracks, the first of which featured his genre-bending song, Clubbed to Death (Kurayamino Variation). But rather than capitalize on the success of one song and make an album full of Clubbed to Death clones, Rob Dougan created an aural masterpiece in the form of his first release - Furious Angels. A must for ANY collection.
