Customer Rating: Summary: Works very well for my purposes Comment: The (passive) noise reduction works very well. [Noise Canceling usually means an electronic system, which this is NOT.] Wearing these, I can barely hear the lawn mower or circular saw; it is useful to be able to hear them just enough to know they are working correctly. With earbuds put on first, I can listen to my mp3 player/radio at normal volumes with full clarity.
They are a bit snug, as you would want to ensure good noise reduction; I have a fairly large head. I loosened them a bit by flexing the wires gently a few times. Too tight is better than too loose, because it's easier to loosen them.
The muffs are plastic. Wearing these in hot weather or doing sweaty work means some moisture will gather where the muff is against your scalp/skin, and some will find that uncomfortable if worn for a long time.
Note that they are rated at 29 db reduction. That's about the same as the foam inserts you can buy at most pharmacies, which are much cheaper and better for long-term wear. I bought the earmuffs to make it easy to take them off when not in use, and to be able to listen to my radio/mp3 player with earbuds.
These work VERY well for my purposes. I wear them as needed, which varies from a couple of minutes to just over an hour, and they are comfortable enough for that amount of wear.
Customer Rating: Summary: It's true these really are good! Comment: I've had these for over 20 years now. Bought them when I was working a compactor, and continue to use them for everything. They are very comfortable, block the noise, and have held up really well. If I don't loose them, they will probably be good for another 20 years.
Customer Rating: Summary: Good for the money! Comment: Kind of bulky for running around behind the mower, but not bad. Comfy, can wear for long periods of time, pretty good noise protection. Very hot, but that's to be expected. NOTE these are not noise canceling!! Noise canceling implies a different type of technology that is not used with these earmuffs.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Product! Comment: I have used several different brands and types of noise reducing products for my carpentry and lawncare hobbies, but by far, the Peltro H10A Professional Noise Canceling Earmuff blocks the most noise and are the most comfortable to wear. I highly recommend this product.
Customer Rating: Summary: They work great, but they're HUGE Comment: If you're going to be doing work with loud equipment, these are great. They block out a lot of sound. But, they are much bigger on your head than they look in the picture, so you do look a little silly wearing them.
At first, they were too tight on my head, but I put them on a cardboard box for a few days to strech them out, and now I can wear them for hours without discomfort. I'm usually quite senstive to having my head squished by headphones, so I'm glad that they stretched out eventually.
They can also be combined with earbuds for very isolated music listening. I do that when using loud equipment. Just don't turn the music up too load, or you won't here anything outside at all, which could be unsafe.
