This is a Cream or Milk dispenser in the shape of a cow hand painted in the traditional Talavera style. Each cow is approx. 3 1/2" tall and 6" long. They are available in a variety of colors and painting patterns. The piece(s) you receive will be identical in shape and size although the colors and patterns will vary from piece to piece. The samples shown are a good representation of the various color and styles. Talavera is an art form that has its roots starting in the 16th Century. Original styles have been influenced with Spanish, Arabic, Italian and Chinese origins. The Spaniards brought the technique to Mexico with a distinctive style that came from Talavera de la Reina, a city in the central part of Spain. From there it developed into a contemporary art form that is still extremely popular that many villages were built just to support the making of the numerous forms that can be purchased today.
